This study intended to figure out responsive characteristics of the Mother-and-Child Drawings based on
adult's attachment types and provide with fundamental data for identifying adult's attachment types.
Subjects for the study were from college students in early adulthood to under sixty-year-old adults in
middle adulthood, residing in Kyung-ki-do and Choong-chung-do. To analyse responsive characteristics of
the Mother-and-Child Drawings based on adult's attachment types, analysis of frequency, Chi-Square test or
Variance Analysis(F-Test) were applied to mother figures, child figures, mother and child figures, and PDI
by attachment types. The results of this study were as follows. First, for the mother figures facial
expressions and numbers of face parts showed significantly differences. Second, for the child figures facial
expressions and numbers of face parts also demonstrated statistically significant outcomes. Third, for mother
and child figures, there were significant difference in sizes of mother and child figures, ratio of
mother-and-child figures, and eye contact. Fourth, for PDI, there were significant differences in child age
and conformity of thinking in mother and child. This research presented a case for the fact that the
Mother-and-Child Drawing can be used as an identifying tool for adult's attachment types.
