초등학교 교사의 일을 교사의 본질적인 역할인 가르치는 일로서의 보람과 의미를 무시한 채 대중적 인 잣대나 단순한 외적인 이미지에 기초해서 교직문화를 지나치게 부정적으로 왜곡해서 보는 것은 학교문화를 제대로 이해하는 데에 상당한 걸림돌이 되고 있다. 초등학교는 부정적인 모습의 교직문 화에 익숙해진 대부분의 대중들이 보는 것처럼 정체된 채로 부정정인 이미지만 분출하는 곳은 아니 다. 이러한 비판에서 출발하여 본 연구는 초등학교의 교직문화를 이해하기 위해 다음의 세 가지를 중심으로 논의를 전개시켜 나간다. 첫째, 초등학교 교직문화 이해의 전제로서 가치와 지향점이라는 두 가지 측면에서 초등학교가 추구하고 있는 문화적인 방향과 그 속에서의 갈등양상을 살펴본다. 둘째, 초등학교 조직의 특성을 이해하고 그 속에서 나타나는 교직문화의 여러 양상과 갈등 등을 조 명해 본다. 마지막으로, 부정적인 모습의 교직문화뿐만 아니라 긍정적인 측면의 교직문화를 보다 활 성화해 나가야 할 필요성과 바람직한 교직문화 형성을 위해 교직사회는 어떠한 변화를 모색하고 도 모해 나가야 할 것인가를 살펴본다.
It is not desirable to view primary school teachers’ work mostly with negative images. The core of teachers’ work is based on the commitment and professionalism of teachers themselves. The culture of primary school teachers is also based on such kinds of teachers’ efforts. This study searches the culture of primary school teachers. And focuses on the three things. First, to find out the conflicts in the course of educational process through cultural context of the primary school teachers. Second, to understand cultural distinct of primary school teachers in terms of organizational structure. and finally, to suggest desirable changes for the cultural formation of primary school teachers. in the future. In conclusion, we need not only teachers’ efforts and commitment for shaping desirable school culture, but some institutional changes and government supports to increase teachers’ autonomy and their motivation.
