과학과 사회, 기술 사이의 관계는 현대 사회에서 매우 밀접하게 연관되어 있다. 이러한 상황은 다 양한 가치 갈등을 일으키며, 이에 대한 합리적 의사결정을 내릴 수 있는 과학적 소양은 최근 과학 교육에서 중요한 부분으로 자리매김하고 있다. 이에 본 연구에서는 초등 사이버 과학영재 학생 50 명을 대상으로 과학과 관련된 사회윤리적 문제(SSI)와 관련된 의사결정 활동 수업을 진행하고, 의 사결정 활동에 대한 학생들의 인식을 분석하였다. 인식 조사 결과, 학생들은 의사결정 활동이 합리 적인 문제해결에 도움을 주었다고 인식하였으며, 의사결정시 문제의 장단점 고려의 중요성을 인식 하고 있었다. 또한, 서로의 의견을 비교하기 위한 토론 활동의 필요성을 인식하였다. 학생들이 인 식하는 의사결정 활동에서의 어려움으로는 찬반 입장 모두 근거가 합리적이어서 의사결정하기가 어려웠다는 점이 가장 많았고, 의사결정 활동을 위하여 가장 필요한 도움으로는 필요한 참고 자료 제공이었다.
Science, technology, and society are bound up with one another as it becomes complex society. The abilities to make decision and to solve complex problems with conflicts are important aspects of scientific literacy. This study examined elementary students' perceptions of decision-making activities on socioscientific issues after implementing instructions with decision-making activities. The subjects of this study were fifty elementary science gifted students. The results showed that students perceived that decision-making activities were helpful in reasonable problem solving. They also perceived that it was important to consider the advantage and disadvantages all together. They recognized the important role of discussions in order to compare different opinions. Students had difficulties in making decision when both evidences in pros and cons positions were reasonable, and what the students needed the most to make decisions was to get related information.
