The purpose of this study is to develop and explore practice of museum guides for elementary school students focusing on Korean traditional artworks in The National Museum of Korea. Especially, the museum guide for elementary school students is connected with school art curriculum.
Nowadays, many students with teacher or parents visit museums for field experience. However, most museums including The National Museum of Korea have few guide to make students understand artworks in museum. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to suggest some types of museum guides for elementary school students focusing on Korean traditional artworks in The National Museum of Korea.
In developing museum guide for elementary school students, I used artworks in The National Museum of Korea. Because The National Museum of Korea is the representative museum in Korea, particularly in Korean traditional art. Accordingly, in this study, I select \'Korean traditional art\' in developing museum guide. I developed the guide for children which is related school curriculum of four types. The contents of guide approach by social and cultural contexts as well as aesthetic value of artworks to understand diverse art works.
