Pictures drawn by children are the windows of hearts. In order to grow the window of hearts in a beautiful and strong manner, the desire of children\'s expressing through pictures should be satisfied. However, if numerous pictures that children describe as they grow are turned down as a mere act of drawing or interest, fine arts cannot be recognized for their significance.
Since the mankind came into the world, traces of making efforts to show one’s thought or hope can be found in caves or fossils. Just as the analysis on the picture started by our ancestors makes it possible to understand the culture and history of the times, so the analysis on the children’s picture makes it possible to understand the cognitive ability, sensitive ability, hand’s manipulating ability, and mentality of children and fine arts therapy, etc.
In order to measure the cognitive ability in children’s pictures, the brain science and cognitive psychology should be studied. In order to measure the sensitive ability, the studies relating to the emotional intelligence are required. For the purpose of the hand’s manipulating ability, mentality, and fine arts therapy, the process to observe children are necessary. However, the inadequate professional education institution relating to children’s pictures and the insufficient specialized research staff to observe and instruct children have become the causes impeding the development of the fine arts education for children.
In this regard, the main text analyzed the children’s pictures by utilizing the association technique applied in the children’s pictures and the characteristics appearing in the children’s pictures in terms of brain science and psychology as a basic step to verify and appraise the program necessary in the fine arts education. In addition, the pictures presented in the main text are realized on the basis of the result obtained by the author’s direct instruction. The theoretical background is based on the brain science and cognitive psychology.
In order for the fine arts education for children to play its role from now on, it is urgent to cultivate the professional manpower to study the fine arts education for children. With a more vivid interdisciplinary study, the role and stature of the fine arts education can be established in the future society of competition.
