최근 들어 여성의 수학에 관한 경험과 관점을 통합하여 수학 교육을 재구성하고자하는 ‘성통합적(gender-inclusive)\' 교육의 관점이 부각되고 있다. 이러한 맥락에서 본 연구는 성통합적 수학 학습 프로그램 개발 연구의 일환으로 여성학적 인식론과 교수법에 기초하여 여학생들을 위한 수학 학습 프로그램을 개발하고 프로그램의 효과를 평가하여 후속 개발을 위한 시사점을 찾는데 목적이 있다. 이를 위하여 중학교 3학년 여학생을 대상으로 개발된 수학학습 프로그램을 실시하고, 함수적 사고에 대한 사전사후검사를 통해 수집된 자료를 양적질적으로 분석하였다. 분석 결과, 함수에 관한 수학적 이해의 평가 문항에 대한 성취 수준은 유의한 수준으로 향상되었다. 문항별 문제해결 전략의 질적 분석 결과, 학생들은 사전검사에 비해 사후 검사에서 보다 유연하고 다양한 문제 해결 전략 및 표현을 구사하고, 변화의 패턴을 초기의 국소적 시각에서 벗어나 전체적 관점에서 파악하는 경향을 보여주었다. 본 연구의 분석 결과는 여성학적 인식론과 교수법이 효과적인 수학 학습 프로그램 개발의 이론적 기반이 될 수 있음을 시사한다. 즉 학습자 자신의 앎의 방법을 존중함과 동시에 동료들과의 상호작용을 통하여 다양한 수학적 시각의 세계를 경험하고 그 경험을 자신의 목소리를 통해 표현할 수 있는 역량을 키워가는 학습 환경의 제공이 학생들의 수학적 힘을 육성하는데 효과적인 교수 방법론이 될 수 있음을 보여준다.
The purpose of this research is to develop a gender-inclusive program of mathematics based on the feminist pedagogy and to analyze its effects. 21 female 9th grade students participated in this mathematics program for 3 weeks. Based on the feminist pedagogy, the program encouraged the participants to construct mathematics through social interaction based on hand-on activities connected to experientially real contexts for girls. The analysis began with the quantitative comparison of the pre-post tests of the students\' conceptual understanding of data analysis and functions. The qualitative analysis followed to describe the characteristics of the students\' conceptual understanding and problem solving strategies in the pre-post tests. The data analysis supported the significant effect of the program on the improvement of the students\' conceptual understanding about data analysis and functions. The feminist pedagogy emphasizes the learning environments to respect the students\' ways of knowing, various voices of their own, and interactions with colleagues and to experience the various aspects of mathematics. Therefore these results suggest that teaching model based on feminist pedagogy is girl-friendly but of essence to develop a gender-inclusive instructional model for the mathematical empowerment.
