Karen Guo 환태평양유아교육연구학회 Asia-Pacific journal of research in early childhood education 19 Pages
환태평양유아교육연구학회 Asia-Pacific journal of research in early childhood education 2016, Vol.10 No.1 1 1-19 (19 pages)
One of the key principles in the ideology which underpins education is the value of children’s family experience. Central to this idea is the view of parents as important. Parenting has become a vital dimension in contemporary education. Parenting discourses traditionally focus on such concepts as parenting style, approach, attitude or practice. The main consideration behind these concepts is what parents appear to be doing at a single point of time, referring to parenting per se. This paper... -

Thelma Rabago-Mingoa, Therese Angeline M. Estacio, Joanna Erika M. Perlas 환태평양유아교육연구학회 Asia-Pacific journal of research in early childhood education 21 Pages
환태평양유아교육연구학회 Asia-Pacific journal of research in early childhood education 2014, Vol.8 No.2 9 153-173 (21 pages)
Long ago, Filipino games have been part of the Filipino pastime. These games, being cooperative by nature, seem to promote close social relationships in the family, in school and in the community. But nowadays, Filipino children rarely play these games. The present generation has been exposed to a variety of games in handheld technological devices that could lead to less interest in playing Filipino games, or other social play. This action research aimed to find out how teaching Filipino games... -

One of the reasons for this willingness to take on leadership roles included the belief that as a result of working as a teacher for many years,... -

In Australia, over one third of all children in Early Childhood programs speak a first language other than English. This paper reports on a small study investigating how four early childhood educators understand theory of Second Language Acquisition (SLA) and bilingualism, and how they cater for... -

환태평양유아교육연구학회 Asia-Pacific journal of research in early childhood education 2011, Vol.5 No.2 6 107-123 (17 pages)
This paper explores the Japanese Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT) approach to curriculum policy in early childhood education. The Kindergarten Curriculum Guideline contains few directives or practical suggestions for teachers. The abstractness and indirectness of the MEXT approach to establishing curricular guidelines stands in stark contrast to the much more explicit and directive curriculum guidelines for early childhood education found in China, the US,... -

환태평양유아교육연구학회 Asia-Pacific journal of research in early childhood education 2011, Vol.5 No.1 1 3-22 (20 pages)
Countries have implicit cultural beliefs and practices about early childhood education which they tend to undervalue and which, as a result, are endangered. The Preschool in Three Cultures Revisited study includes examples of such implicit cultural beliefs and practices in Chinese, Japanese, and US preschools. The paper argues that early childhood practitioners, policy makers, and scholars should give greater value to these cultural beliefs and practices and think of them as national treasures...
