Photocatalytic performance of graphene/Ag/TiO₂ hybrid nanocomposites
Jong-Ho Lee, In-Ki Kim, Donghwan Cho, Jeong-Il Youn, Young-Jig Kim, Han-Jun Oh 한국탄소학회 Carbon Letters 8 Pages
한국탄소학회 Carbon Letters 2015, Vol.16 No.4 4 247-254 (8 pages)
improve photocatalytic efficiency, graphene/Ag/TiO₂ nanotube catalyst was synthesized, and its surface characteristics and photocatalytic activity investigated. For deposition of Ag nanoparticles on the TiO₂ nanotubes, a polymer compound containing CH₃COOAg/poly(Llactide) was utilized, and the silver particles were precipitated by reducing the silver ions during the annealing process. Graphene deposition on the Ag/TiO₂ nanotubes was achieved using an electrophoretic deposition process. Based... -

Electrochemical synthesis was employed to prepare a novel hydroxyapatite/graphene (HAP/ Gr) composite powder suitable for medical applications as a hard tissue implant (scaffold). The synthesis was performed in a homogeneous dispersion containing Na2H2EDTA·2H2O, NaH2PO4 and CaCl2 with a Ca/EDTA/PO4 3? concentration ratio of 0.25/0.25/0.15M, along with 0.01 wt% added graphene nanosheets, at a current density of 137 mA cm?2 and pH value of 9.0. The field emission scanning electron microscopy and... -
Molecular approach to hexagonal and cubic diamond nanocrystals

of cubic diamondoid structures. The calculated binding energy per atom shows that wurtzoids are tighter structures than diamondoids. Distribution of angles and bonds manifest the main differences between hexagonal and cubic diamond-type structures. Charge transfer, infrared, nuclear magnetic resonance and ultraviolet-visible spectra are investigated to identify the main spectroscopic differences between hexagonal and cubic structures at the molecular and nanoscale. Natural bond orbital populati... -
Mechanisms of Na adsorption on graphene and graphene oxide: density functional theory approach
Hye Sook Moon, Ji Hye Lee, Soonchul Kwon, Il Tae Kim, Seung Geol Lee 한국탄소학회 Carbon Letters 5 Pages
한국탄소학회 Carbon Letters 2015, Vol.16 No.2 7 116-120 (5 pages)
We investigated the adsorption of Na on graphene and graphene oxide, which are used as anode materials in sodium ion batteries, using density functional theory. The adsorption energy for Na on graphene was -0.507 eV at the hollow sites, implying that adsorption was favorable. In the case of graphene oxide, Na atoms were separately adsorbed on the epoxide and hydroxyl functional groups. The adsorption of Na on graphene oxide-epoxide (adsorption energy of -1.024 eV) was found to be stronger than... -
Activated carbons prepared from mixtures of coal tar pitch and petroleum pitch and their electrochemical performance as electrode materials for electric double-layer capacitor
Eunji Lee, Soon Hyung Kwon, Poo Reum Choi, Ji Chul Jung, Myung-Soo Kim 한국탄소학회 Carbon Letters 8 Pages

by a charge-discharge method in the voltage range of 0-2.7 V. In order to improve the performance of the electric double-layer capacitor electrode, various mixtures of CTP and petroleum pitch (PP) were activated at the optimal activation conditions previously determined for CTP. Although the specific capacitance of AC electrodes prepared from CTP only and the mixtures of CTP and PP was not significantly different at a current density of 1 A/g, the AC electrodes from CTP and PP mixtures showed... -
Conducting and interface characterization of carbonate-type organic electrolytes containing EMImBF4 as an additive against activated carbon electrode

different contents of 1-ethyl-3-methyl imidazolium tetrafluoroborate (EMImBF4). Cyclic voltammetry and linear sweep voltammetry were performed to analyze conducting behaviors. The surface characterizations were analyzed by scanning electron microscopy method and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy. From the experimental results, increasing the EMImBF4 content increased the ionic conductivity and reduced bulk resistance and interfacial resistance. In particular, after adding 15 vol% EMImBF4 in 0.2 M... -
CO2 adsorption characteristics of slit-pore shaped activated carbon prepared from cokes with high crystallinity
Mi-Seon Park, Si-Eun Lee, Min Il Kim and Young-Seak Lee 한국탄소학회 Carbon Letters 6 Pages

that it consists mainly of slit-like pores. Compared to other textural forms of AC that have higher pore volumes, this slit-poreshaped hc-AC exhibits higher CO2 adsorption due to the similar shape between its pores and CO2 molecules. Additionally, in these high-crystallinity cokes, the main factor affecting CO2 adsorption at lower temperature is the pore structure, whereas the presence of oxygen functional groups on the surface has a greater impact on CO2 adsorption at higher temperature.
