Dang-Min, Moh. Sang-Man, Chung. 14 Pages
2009, Vol.12 No.11 1609-1622 (14 pages)
The effect of visual information on gait parameters with induced ankle muscle fatigue
Hye Rim Suh, Jin-Hee Hwang, Su-Young Lee 물리치료재활과학회 Physical Therapy Rehabilitation Science 6 Pages
6 140-145 (6 pages)
Objective: The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of visual block with ankle joint fatigue on gait and dynamic balance ability. Design: Cross-sectional study. Methods: Thirty healthy young adults (men=15, women=15) between 22 to 25 years of age voluntarily participated in this study. All subjects performed the gait and dynamic balance test successively in two conditions: the visual block and the open eyes condition. Before the gait and dynamic balance test, muscle fatigue on the... -
Effect of repetitive wrist extension with electromyography-triggered stimulation after stroke
Yo-seb Lee, Yu-ri Cha, Young Kim, Su-jin Hwang, Yi-jung Chung 물리치료재활과학회 Physical Therapy Rehabilitation Science 7 Pages
4 127-133 (7 pages)
Objective: The purpose of this study was to explore the effect of repetitive wrist extension task training with electromyography (EMG)-triggered neuromuscular electrical stimulation (NMES) for wrist extensor muscle recovery in patients with stroke. Design: Randomized controlled trial. Methods: Fifteen subjects who had suffered a stroke were randomly assigned to an EMG-triggered NMES group (n=8) or control group (n=7); subjects in both groups received conventional therapy as usual. Subjects in... -
Comparison of the effects of muscle stretching exercises and cupping therapy on pain thresholds, cervical range of motion and angle

application of the McKenzie stretching and dry cupping therapy. Results: Neither the cervical spine angle nor the turtle neck angle showed any change in both the McKenzie stretching and the dry cupping treatment. In the McKenzie stretching, the pain threshold decreased, and the ROM of the cervical spine increased in all directions but there was no significant difference. The pain threshold was increased in the dry cupping treatment, and the ROM of the cervical spine was significantly increased i... -
Immediate effect of self-myofascial release on hamstring flexibility
Ji-hye Jung, Won-jae Choi, Yong-hyuk Lee, Ji-woo Kim, Hyun-ju Kim, Kyoung-ho Lee, Jae-woo Lee, Seung-won Lee 물리치료재활과학회 Physical Therapy Rehabilitation Science 7 Pages
8 45-51 (7 pages)
Objective: This study aimed to identify the area with greatest effect using self-myofascial release technique (self-MFR) in the hamstring, suboccipital, and plantar regions. Design: Cross-sectional study. Methods: Twenty-two adult subjects were evaluated for flexibility and hamstring pain threshold after self-MFR. Based on the superficial back line, the self-MFR application areas were the suboccipital region, hamstring, and plantar regions. Self-MFR was applied to each area using a wooden pole... -

the trunk and pelvis. Results: Before and after the interventions, medial-lateral axis movement distance, anterior-posterior axis movement distance, sway mean velocity, and sway area 95% was a statistically significant change in all three groups (p<0.05). The post-hoc test showed a significant improvement in medial-lateral axis movement distance, anterior-posterior axis movement distance, sway mean velocity, and sway area in the AEM group compared with the control group, and in the ADIM group... -

measure the change in pain threshold of levator scapular muscle, carniovertebral angle, and head position angle when applying a head-weight device on healthy adult. Design: Cross-sectional study. Methods: This study was conducted with 21 healthy adult male and female who voluntarily agreed to participate in this study after being informed of the purpose and method of this study. After measuring the cervical angle and pain threshold of levator scapular muscle, subject was instructed to walk for 5... -
Kinematic characteristics of grip force in patients with cervical spondylosis
Bum-suk Lee, Naoto Noguchi, Daiki Kakiage, Tsuneo Yamazaki 물리치료재활과학회 Physical Therapy Rehabilitation Science 5 Pages
1 61-65 (5 pages)
We found that the total grip force correlated with the cutaneous pressure threshold (p<0.05). Moreover, the total grip force of the dominant thumb correlated with the results of the three STEF subtests (p<0.05). There were no significant correlations between the total grip force and pinch/grip powers. Conclusions: We found that the total grip force correlated with cutaneous pressure threshold and upper extremity function. The results suggest that the total grip force could serve as an objective...
