The flexible Alternating Current transmission system (FACTS) may play a vital role in solving various problems of modern restructured power system networks, which have to operate under highly stressed conditions because of ever increasing demand of electric power. However, due to huge capital investment, an intensive investigation is required at planning stage to select optimal location and size of these devices to acquire maximum benefit of it. In this paper, Continuous Genetic Algorithm (CGA)... -

As wireless technology becomes more advanced, mobile devices become more affordable and easier to use. Due to the technological change, mobile learning gets more attention from both researchers and practitioners looking for ways to utilize it in teaching and learning. Although the researches provide very valuable insights into trends and issues of mobile learning, there are few articles that examine user acceptance of mobile learning. In order to adopt and disseminate mobile learning in the... -
Effects of Long- and Short-term Consumption of Energy Drinks on Anxiety-like, Depression-like, and Cognitive Behavior in Adolescent Rats
Lee Joo Hee, Lee Jong Hyeon, Choi You Jeong, Kim Youn Jung Journal of Korean Biological Nursing Science 8 Pages
Journal of Korean Biological Nursing Science 2020, Volume 22, No 2 5 111-118 (8 pages)
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to understand the impact of long- and short-term energy drinks on anxiety-like, depressionlike, and cognitive behavior in adolescent rats. Methods: Adolescent rats (age six weeks) were randomly classified into a control group (CON), a long-term administration group (LT), and a short-term administration group (ST). The LT group was orally administered 1.5 mL/100 g (body weight) of energy drink twice daily for 14 days, the ST group was orally administered for... -
Children’s Engagement with Their Learning Using E-portfolios
Asia-Pacific journal of research in early childhood education 22 Pages
Asia-Pacific journal of research in early childhood education 2017, Vol.11 No.3 2 17-38 (22 pages)
Narrative approaches to documentation and assessment in early childhood education (ECE) encourage children to be active contributors to their own learning journey. The growing emphasis on technology in society is changing assessment practices, with the introduction of e-portfolios into ECE, extending traditional documentation methods. Despite their growing popularity in New Zealand ECE settings, little research into their impact on children and their learning has been undertaken to date. This... -
Level of Resident Care Need and Staffing by Size of Nursing Home under the Public Long-term Care Insurance in South Korea
9 Pages
1 1-9 (9 pages)
Purpose: Formal long-term care in nursing homes became a popular means of caring for frail elders in South Korea. This universal long-term care (LTC) insurance for elders was introduced in 2008. The aim of this study was to provide information on the extent of and variations in residents’ care needs and nursing staffing characteristics across nursing homes. Methods: This was a population-based secondary analysis of a large national survey study involving 1,472 older residents in 92 nursing... -
Enhancing effects of serum-rich and cytokine-supplemented culture conditions on developing blastocysts and deriving porcine parthenogenetic embryonic stem cells
Soo-Kyung Jung, Hyun-Jung Kim, Chan-Lan Kim, Joo-Hyeong Lee, Jin-Young You, Eun-Song Lee, Jeong-Mook Lim, Seon Jong Yun, Jae-You 대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 10 Pages
9 519-528 (10 pages)
The present study was conducted to develop an effective method for establishment of porcine parthenogenetic embryonic stem cells (ppESCs) from parthenogenetically activated oocyte-derived blastocysts. The addition of 10% fetal bovine serum (FBS) to the medium on the 3rd day of oocyte culturing improved the development of blastocysts, attachment of inner cell masses (ICMs) onto feeder cells, and formation of primitive ppESC colonies. ICM attachment was further enhanced by basic fibroblast growth... -
Prevalence and patterns of self-reported animal-related injury among veterinarians in metropolitan Kampala

15 363-365 (3 pages)
To establish the prevalence, patterns and risk factors of animal-related injuries among veterinarians, self-administered questionnaires were given to 60 veterinarians practicing in metropolitan Kampala. The prevalence of animal-related injuries in metropolitan Kampala was 72% (95%CI, 57∼84). Some veterinarians (34%) suffered multiple injuries with a mean and median of 2.1 and 2.0 injuries per veterinarian, respectively. Of a total of 70 self-reported animal related injuries, cattle... -
D-PSA-K: A Model for Estimating the Accumulated Potential Damage on Kiwifruit Canes Caused by Bacterial Canker during the Growing and Overwintering Seasons
The Plant Pathology Journal 8 Pages
6 537-544 (8 pages)
We developed a model, termed D-PSA-K, to estimate the accumulated potential damage on kiwifruit canes caused by bacterial canker during the growing and overwintering seasons. The model consisted of three parts including estimation of the amount of necrotic lesion in a non-frozen environment, the rate of necrosis increase in a freezing environment during the overwintering season, and the amount of necrotic lesion on kiwifruit canes caused by bacterial canker during the overwintering and growing... -
Pathotype Classification of Plasmodiophora brassicae Isolates Using Clubroot-Resistant Cultivars of Chinese Cabbage
The Plant Pathology Journal 8 Pages
6 423-430 (8 pages)
Clubroot disease caused by Plasmodiophora brassicae is one of the most serious diseases in Brassica crops worldwide. In this study, the pathotypes of 12 Korean P. brassicae field isolates were determined using various Chinese cabbage including 22 commercial cultivars from Korea, China, and Japan, and 15 inbred lines. All P. brassicae isolates exhibited the typical clubroot disease on non-clubroot resistant cultivar, indicating that the isolates were highly pathogenic. According to the reactions... -
Research Articles : A Three-Year Field Validation Study to Improve the Integrated Pest Management of Hot Pepper
The Plant Pathology Journal 11 Pages
8 294-304 (11 pages)
To improve the integrated pest management (IPM) of hot pepper, field study was conducted in Hwasung from 2010 to 2012 and an IPM system was developed to help growers decide when to apply pesticides to control anthracnose, tobacco budworm, Phytophthora blight, bacterial wilt, and bacterial leaf spot. The three field treatments consisted of IPM sprays following the forecast model advisory, a periodic spray at 7-to-10-day intervals, and no spray (control). The number of annual pesticide...
