Proteomic Analysis of Differentially Expressed Proteins in Bovine Endometrium with Endometritis
ChangyongChoe, Jeong-WonPark, Eun-SukKim, Sung-GyuLee, Sun-YoungPark, Jeong-SoonLee, Myung-JeCho, KeeRyeonKang, JaeheeHan, DawonKang 대한생리학회-대한약리학회 The Korean Journal of Physiology & Pharmacology 8 Pages

I heavy chain (MHC-Ih) were up-regulated. In contrast, transferrin, interleukin-2 precursor, hemoglobin Ղ subunit, and potassium channel tetramerisation domain- containing 11 (KCTD11) were down-regulated in comparison to normal endometrium. The proteomic results were validated by semiquantitative-PCR and immunoblot analysis. The mRNA levels of desmin, transferrin, Ձ-actin-2, HSP27, KCTD11, and MHC-Ih were up-regulated by over 1.5-fold, and showed a pattern similar to their proteomic... -
Role of T-type Ca2+ Channels in the Spontaneous Phasic Contraction of Pregnant Rat Uterine Smooth Muscle

대한생리학회-대한약리학회 The Korean Journal of Physiology & Pharmacology 2009, Vol.13 No.3 15 241-249 (9 pages)
Although extracellular Ca2+ entry through the voltage-dependent Ca2+ channels plays an important role in the spontaneous phasic contractions of the pregnant rat myometrium, the role of the T-type Ca2+ channels has yet to be fully identified. The aim of this study was to investigate the role of the T-type Ca2+ channel in the spontaneous phasic contractions of the rat myometrium. Spontaneous phasic contractions and [Ca2+]i were measured simultaneously in the longitudinal strips of female... -
Janus Kinase 2 Inhibitor AG490 Inhibits the STAT3 Signaling Pathway by Suppressing Protein Translation of gp130

대한생리학회-대한약리학회 The Korean Journal of Physiology & Pharmacology 2009, Vol.13 No.2 9 131-137 (7 pages)
The binding of interleukin-6 (IL-6) cytokine family ligands to the gp130 receptor complex activates the Janus kinase (JAK)/ signal transducer and activator of transcription 3 (STAT3) signal transduction pathway, where STAT3 plays an important role in cell survival and tumorigenesis. Constitutive activation of STAT3 has been frequently observed in many cancer tissues, and thus, blocking of the gp130 signaling pathway, at the JAK level, might be a useful therapeutic approach for the suppression of... -
Alterations in Membrane Transport Function and Cell Viability Induced by ATP Depletion in Primary Cultured Rabbit Renal Proximal Tubular Cells

대한생리학회-대한약리학회 The Korean Journal of Physiology & Pharmacology 2009, Vol.13 No.1 3 15-22 (8 pages)
This study was undertaken to elucidate the underlying mechanisms of ATP depletion-induced membrane transport dysfunction and cell death in renal proximal tubular cells. ATP depletion was induced by incubating cells with 2.5 mM potassium cyanide (KCN)/0.1 mM iodoacetic acid (IAA), and membrane transport function and cell viability were evaluated by measuring Na+-dependent phosphate uptake and trypan blue exclusion, respectively. ATP depletion resulted in a decrease in Na+-dependent phosphate... -

reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR), and found all three family members of KCa channels, including large conductance KCa (BK-Ձ1- and -Ղ1∼4 subunits), intermediate conductance KCa (IK), and small conductance KCa (SK1∼4 subunits) channels. Thirdly, we recorded BK, IK, and SK channels by whole cell mode patch clamp technique using their specific blockers. Finally, we performed cell proliferation assay to evaluate the effects of the channels on cell proliferation,... -
Effects of (-)-Epigallocatechin-3-gallate on Brain Infarction and the Activity Change of Matrix Metalloproteinase-9 Induced by Middle Cerebral Artery Occlusion in Mice

대한생리학회-대한약리학회 The Korean Journal of Physiology & Pharmacology 2007, Vol.11 No.3 2 85-88 (4 pages)
Matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs) can degrade a wide range of extracellular matrix components. It has been reported that MMP-9 are activated after focal ischemia in experimental animals. ()-Epigallocatechin-3-gallate (EGCG), a major constituent of green tea polyphenols, is a potent free radical scavenger and reduces the neuronal damage caused by oxygen free radicals. And it has been known that EGCG could reduce the infarction volume in focal brain ischemia and inhibit MMP-9 activity. To... -

Striatum has important roles in motor control, habitual learning and memory. It receives glutamatergic inputs from neocortex and thalamus, and dopaminergic inputs from substantia nigra. We examined effects of dopamine (DA) on the corticostriatal synaptic transmission using in vitro extracellular recording technique in rat brain corticostriatal slices. Synaptic responses were elicited by stimulation of cortical glutamatergic inputs on the corpus callosum and recorded in the dorsal striatum.... -
What is the Key Step in Muscle Fatty Acid Oxidation after Change of Plasma Free Fatty Acids Level in Rats?

대한생리학회-대한약리학회 The Korean Journal of Physiology & Pharmacology 2005, Vol.9 No.3 7 173-178 (6 pages)
The purpose of this study was to discern the critical point in skeletal muscle fatty acid oxidation by changing plasma free fatty acids (FFA) level in rat. In the study, 3 key steps in lipid oxidation were examined after changing plasma FFA level by acipimox. The rates of both palmitate and palmitoyl- carnitine oxidation were decreased by decrease of plasma FFA level, however, carnitine palmitoyl transferase (CPT) 1 activity was not changed, suggesting CPT1 activity may not be involved in the... -
Salicylate Regulates Cyclooxygenase-2 Expression through ERK and Subsequent NF-κB Activation in Osteoblasts

The expression of cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2) is a characteristic response to inflammation and can be inhibited with sodium salicylate. TNF-α plus IFN-γ can induce extracellular signal-regulated kinase (ERK), IKK, IκB degradation and NF-κB activation. The inhibition of the ERK pathway with selective inhibitor, PD098059, blocked cytokine-induced COX-2 expression and PGE2 release. Salicylate treatment inhibited COX-2 expression induced by TNF-α/IFN-γ and regulated the activation of ERK, IKK and... -
Fuctional Relationship between Rate of Fatty Acid Oxidation and Carnitine Palmitoyl Transferase I Activity in Various Rat Tissues

Lipids play many structural and metabolic roles, and dietary fat has great impact on metabolism and health. Fatty acid oxidation rate is dependent on tissue types. However there has been no report on the relationship between the rate of fatty acid oxidation and carnitine transport system in outer mitochondrial membrane of many tissues. In this study, the rate of fatty acid oxidation and carnitine palmitoyltransferase(CPT) I activity in the carnitine transport system were measured to understand...
