Nanoporous graphene oxide membrane and its application in molecular sieving
S. Mahmood Fatemi, Masoud Arabieh, Hamid Sepehrian 한국탄소학회 Carbon Letters 9 Pages
한국탄소학회 Carbon Letters 2015, Vol.16 No.3 4 183-191 (9 pages)
explore Kr-85 gas radionuclide sequestration from natural air in nanoporous graphene oxide membranes in which different sizes and geometries of pores were modeled on the graphene oxide sheet. This was done using atomistic simulations considering mean-squared displacement, diffusion coefficient, number of crossed species of gases through nanoporous graphene oxide, and flow through interlayer galleries. The results showed that the gas features have the densest adsorbed zone in nanoporous graphene... -
Preparation and thermal properties of polyethylene-based carbonized fibers
Kwan-Woo Kim, Hye-min Lee, Byoung Suhk Kim, Seon-Hwan Hwang, Lee-Ku Kwac, Kay-Hyeok An and Byung-Joo Kim 한국탄소학회 Carbon Letters 5 Pages
한국탄소학회 Carbon Letters 2015, Vol.16 No.1 10 62-66 (5 pages)
In this study, carbonized fibers were prepared by using acidically cross-linked LDPE fibers. The surface morphologies of the carbonized fibers were observed by SEM. The effects of cross-linking process temperatures were studied using thermal analyses such as DSC and TGA. The melting and heating enthalpy of the fibers decreased as the cross-linking temperature increased. The cross-linked fibers had a carbonization yield of over 50%. From SEM results the highest yield of carbonized LDPE-based... -
Breakthrough behaviour of activated charcoal cloth samples against oxygen analogue of sulphur mustard
G. K. Prasad, J. Praveen Kumar, P. V. R. K. Ramacharyulu and Beer Singh 한국탄소학회 Carbon Letters 6 Pages
한국탄소학회 Carbon Letters 2015, Vol.16 No.1 3 19-24 (6 pages)
The breakthrough behaviour of activated charcoal cloth samples against an oxygen analogue (OA) of sulphur mustard has been studied using the modified Wheeler equation. Activated charcoal cloth samples having different surface area values in the range of 481 to 1290 m2/g were used for this purpose. Breakthrough behaviour was found to depend on the properties of the activated charcoal cloth, properties of the OA and the adsorption conditions. Activated charcoal cloth with a high surface area of... -
Adsorption of volatile organic compounds using activated carbon fiber filter in the automobiles
Hyung Suk Moon, In Soo Kim, Sin Jae Kang, Seung Kon Ryu 한국탄소학회 Carbon Letters 7 Pages
한국탄소학회 Carbon Letters 2014, Vol.15 No.3 8 203-209 (7 pages)
in a gas bag. In a continuous flow of air containing toluene vapor through an ACF packed bed, the breakpoint time was very long, the length of the unused bed was short, and sharp “S” -type breakthrough curve was plotted soon after breakpoint, showing a narrow mass transfer zone of toluene on the ACF. The adsorption amount of toluene on the ACF filter was proportional to the specific surface area of the ACF; however, the development of mesopores 2-5 nm in size on the ACF was very effective with... -
Carbon nanospheres synthesized via solution combustion method: their application as an anode material and catalyst for hydrogen production
Vivek Dhand, M Venkateswer Rao, J. S. Prasad, Garima Mittal, Kyong Yop Rhee, Hyeon Ju Kim, Dong Ho Jung 한국탄소학회 Carbon Letters 5 Pages
한국탄소학회 Carbon Letters 2014, Vol.15 No.3 7 198-202 (5 pages)
Amorphous agglomerates of carbon nanospheres (CNS) with a diameter range of 10-50 nm were synthesized using the solution combustion method. High-resolution transmission electron microscopy (HRTEM) revealed a densely packed high surface area of SP2-hybridized carbon; however, there were no crystalline structural components, as can be seen from the scanning electron microscopy, HRTEM, X-ray diffraction, Raman spectroscopy, and thermal gravimetric analyses. Electrochemical and thermo catalytic... -
Preparation of novolac-type phenol-based activated carbon with a hierarchical pore structure and its electric double-layer capacitor performance
Dayoung Lee, Jin-Young Jung, Mi-Seon Park, Young-Seak Lee 한국탄소학회 Carbon Letters 6 Pages
한국탄소학회 Carbon Letters 2014, Vol.15 No.3 6 192-197 (6 pages)
A hierarchical pore structured novolac-type phenol based-activated carbon with micropores and mesopores was fabricated. Physical activation using a sacrificial silicon dioxide (SiO2) template and chemical activation using potassium hydroxide (KOH) were employed to prepare these materials. The morphology of the well-developed pore structure was characterized using field-emission scanning electron microscopy. The novolac-type phenol-based activated carbon retained hierarchical pores (micropores... -
Enhanced electrocapacitive performance and high power density of polypyrrole/graphene oxide nanocomposites prepared at reduced temperature
Harish Mudila, Varsha Joshi, Sweta Rana, Mohmd. Ghulam Haider Zaidi, Sarfaraz Alam 한국탄소학회 Carbon Letters 9 Pages
한국탄소학회 Carbon Letters 2014, Vol.15 No.3 3 171-179 (9 pages)
An attempt was made to investigate the effect of the preparation temperature on the electrocapacitive performance of polypyrrole (PPY)/graphene oxide (GO) nanocomposites (PNCs). For this purpose, a series of PNCs were prepared at various temperatures by the cetyltrimethylammonium bromide-assisted dilute-solution polymerization of pyrrole in presence of GO (wt%) ranging from 1.0 to 4.0 with ferric chloride as an oxidant. The formation of the PNCs was ascertained through Fourier-transform infrared... -
Overlook of current chemical vapor deposition-grown large single-crystal graphene domains
Kyung Tae Park, Taehoon Kim, Chong Rae Park 한국탄소학회 Carbon Letters 11 Pages
한국탄소학회 Carbon Letters 2014, Vol.15 No.3 1 151-161 (11 pages)
Exceptional progress has been made with chemical vapor deposition (CVD) of graphene in the past few years. Not only has good monolayer growth of graphene been achieved, but large-area synthesis of graphene sheets has been successful too. However, the polycrystalline nature of CVD graphene is hampering further progress as graphene property degrades due to presence of grain boundaries. This review will cover factors that affect nucleation of graphene and how other scientists sought to obtain large... -
