Polyester-cotton (65/35) blended fabrics, cotton fabrics or nylon fabrics treated with 1,2-disubstituted imidazoline-urea condensates(SHIUCW, SDIUCW or STIUCW) alone or mixture of SHIUCW, SDIUCW or STIUCW and finishing resin resulted in an improvement of various properties such as water repellency, durability to repeated washing, tear strength and crease recovery. The durable softening water repellents prepared from 1,2-disubstituted imidazolineurea condensates showed good stability to acid, alkali or various chemicals. The mechanism of water repellency of fabrics treated with SHIUCW, SDIUCW or STIUCW was investigated in detail.
