한국산 점박이꽃무지속(꽃무지과)은 Kolbe가 서울산 표본을 Cetonia속의 1신종(현재는 아종)으로 기재한 것이 처음이다. 이후 Cetona, Potosia, Liocola, Nectosia Protaetia 등의 속명으로 현재까지 13개의 종명이 기록되었으나 이 기록들과 한국산 표본을 비교 검토한 결과 다수의 착오가 있음을 발견하였다. 즉, 13종명 중 3개는 동물이명, 5개는 오동정이며, 1종은 한국의 분포여부가 의심된다. 결과적으로 확실한 한국산은 4종 뿐이었으나 1미기록종(P. mandschuriensis)이 발견되어 한국산은 5종과 1의심종임이 밝혀졌다. 이상의 6종에 대하여 검색표를 비롯한 분류학적 자료를 첨가하였으며, 신기록 종명은 다음과 같다. 신기록종 : Protaetia (Chrysopotosia) mandschuriensis (Schurhoff) 만주점박이꽃무지 (신칭).
The genus Protaetia Burmeister, 1842 of the family Cetoniidae, Coleoptera from Korea is reviewed taxonomically. Thirteen nominal species have been recorded since seulensis Kolbe, 1886 (Cetonia). However, I found that three names of them are synonyms, five species are mistaken records, one is questionable species in Korea and a species, P. mandschuriensis (Schurhoff) is newly added to the Korean fauna. Taxonomic history, key to species, collection data and illustrations of male aedeagus are provided for six Korean species including a questionable species.
