This paper reviews the past thirty years of psychological research on cognitive processes of comprehension and production of Korean.On compreshension,the research is reviewed in six groups:syntactic processing of sentences(word order effects,relational sentence processing,filler-gap processing,and syntactiv effects on sentence memory),text comprehension in general(anaphoric resolution,and causal and contrastive coherence processing),prior knowledge effcts(text themes,scripts,story grammar effects,and instrumental inferences),individual differences in comprehension,and effects of emotion on comprehension.On producion two groups of research are discussed:speech erroers and text writion under various conditions.Some similarities and differences in comprehending and producing Korean and English were discussed,and the problems and prospects of the research on Korean language processing were observed.
