This study is intended to look into the effects of teachers' image on elementary school students'
attitude toward physical education class. To achieve the purpose of this study, a survey was
carried out to 382 4th, 5th and 6th grade students in Ansan, Gyeonggi-do. The questionnaires of
368 copies(98.5%) was used for actual analysis. The questionnaire used teachers' image scale and
students' attitude toward physical education class. The results were as follows. First, teachers'
image was generally high above normal. In sub-factors, teachers' image of human relations was
higher than other factors. For the difference by teachers' background variables, female teachers
were higher than male teachers. By sub-factors, there was a significant difference in teachers'
mage of class guidance and their image of human relations. For the difference by students'
background variables, the 4th grade was the highest, followed by the 5th grade and the 6th grade.
Class leaders were higher than general students, which there was a significant difference. For the
difference by gender, while female students were higher than male students, there was no
significant difference. Second, students' attitude toward physical education class was generally high
above normal. Interest was higher than other factors. In teachers' perception of students' attitude
toward physical education class, female teachers were generally higher than male teachers, which
there was a significant difference. By grade, the 5th grade was the highest, followed by the 4th
grade and the 6th grade. By gender, male students were higher than female students. In students'
perception of attitude, interest, confidence and concentration toward physical education class, class
leaders were higher than general students, which there was a significant difference. Third, teachers'
image had a relationship with students' attitude toward physical education class. The relationship
between teachers' class guidance and students' attitude toward physical education class was the
highest. The relationship between students' concentration and teachers' image was the highest. In
other words, teachers' image having the biggest effect on students' attitude toward physical
education class was teachers' class guidance. And teachers' image had the biggest effect on
students' concentration.
