Thermal treatment methods considering thermal characteristics of waste asbestos-containing was
studied on the basis of the environmental and economical properties. To treat asbestos-containing
wastes safely, the most important things for asbestos fiber are temperature-induced structural
changes. Therefore waste boards of slate and plaster are intended for 1 hour heat treatment of the
asbestos-containing waste at 800~1400℃ elicited optimal temperature and conditions. SEM/EDS, PLM
and XRD was performed to investigate of the structural change of asbestos and heavy metals (Cu,
Cd, As, Pb, Cr, Hg). And through the analysis of dioxins, slate and plaster tex was also proposed for
the possibility of recycling plan.
