비유학습의 사례로서 교육대학교 과학과 생명분야의 심화 탐구의 활동 주제로서 잎의 구조와 기능에 대하여 알아보았다. 그 중심개념은 물의 활용이고, 관련이론은 식물에서 수액의 상승원리이며, 관찰내용은 일액현상을 중심으로 이루어 졌다. 피자식물에서 단자엽과 쌍자엽 식물의 잎을 탐구적인 비유학습, 탐구비유(inquiring analogy)를 고안하여 몇 가지 사례로 살펴보았다. 1. 기능의 차이( 증산과 광합성 효율 )는 국도와 고속도로처럼 쌍자엽에 유리하며, 2. 진화의 비교( 생활형 )는 대가족제도에 대한 핵가족처럼 단자엽이 비유되고, 3. 일액현상; 엽연(거치)은 다공형의 분무기처럼 쌍자엽에서 대단히 활발하고, 4. 생육의 조건(환경요인)은 빛, 물, 영양은 우리의 신체지수처럼, 과다하지 않은 조건이 필요하다. 잎과 연속구조인 줄기에 대한 비유로서는 관다발이 계속하여 성장하는 쌍자엽은 수면 위에 생겨난 동심원으로, 단자엽은 기포 발생기처럼 뿜어 대는 모습으로 연상해 보았다. 수업 중에는 학습자들이 조별로 비유한 내용을 상대적으로 동료 평가하여서 학습참여와 흥미를 돋을 수 있었다. 이런 식으로, 생활 주변에서 관찰한 내용을 이러한 탐구적인 비유활동으로 자유과제를 더욱 흥미있게 수행할 수 있다고 기 대한다.
As a case study of teaching with analogy in biology, subject for the structure and function of plant leaf was designed to study the main theme, water utilization and the concerning theory, sap ascent and/or observatory contents, guttation phenomena. Especially the difference of leaves between mono- and di-cotyledon plants in angiosperm could be studied by several ideas of each item with inquiring analogy. 1. vein function is road scale as effective highway in dicots. 2. evolution may be favor to annual herbs in monocots. 3. guttation is developed in sharp edges of dicots leaf as multipores of shower sprays. 4. leaf growth factors such as light, water, minerals had analogy to human body and cambium developments of leaf-continued stems as water-wave circles caused by one drop in dicots or aerating droplets in water bath for monocots. The peer evaluations among team contest studies could be paid more interest and participation in learning themes.
