우리나라사회과교육과정에서통합교육과정을지향하게된것은세계화, 정보화시대의불확 실성에대비한통합적사고력과의사결정능력의필요성이부각되면서부터이다. 또한사회과교육 과정의목표는학문적지식의축적이아니라민주시민의자질육성이라는점에서일관성을유지해 왔다. 이러한교육목표는분과형 사회과교육과정의운영만으로는실현되기어렵다. 따라서분과 와통합의적절한조화와균형적시각이필요하며사회과통합교육과정운영은지속되어야한다. 고등학교 사회과는 6차 교육과정부터 현재까지 통합 교육과정을 지향하고 있으나 각 학문 영역의 내용을단원을달리하여단권화한것에불과하여실질적으로는분과형태를유지하고있다는문제 가있다.이에본연구는사회과의실질적통합가능성을제고하기위해주제중심통합교육과정운 영을위한교육과정재구성을제언하고, 질적연구방법론의하나인근거이론을활용하여현재고 등학교에서운영되고있는일반사회,역사,지리교육과정에서통합적사고력을신장할수있는하 나의주제를 발췌하여, 단원을재구성하고, 교수-학습자료를구성하는과정을제시하였다. 개방 코딩을통하여교과서자료를범주화하여‘도시의형성’이라는주제를추출하고축코딩을통하여추 출된주제에대한교수-학습자료개발의원리를, 선택코딩을통해교수-학습자료를통해학생들 이성취하게될학습결과를도출하였다.
Social studies curriculum began to focus on integrated curriculum due to the need of comprehensive decision-making, integrated thinking and awareness in a globalized world. The objective of social studies curriculum is not the accumulation of academic knowledge, but the development of qualities of a democratic citizen. Such an educational objective cannot be realized in a divided social studies curriculum. Proper harmony and balanced perspective of divisions are required and such integrated operation must be maintained. High school social studies implemented the integrated curriculum from the 6th curriculum to the present. However, it is problematic to keep the divided system because it only unified the academic parts. Thus, this study suggests a teaching and learning development plan for social studies’ integrated curriculum based on the grounded theory analysis.
