This study explores the construct validity of the emotional intelligence through analyzing two proposed
models by Mayer and Salovey, and empirical research results related to various validities of the emotional
intelligence. Regarding theoretical structure of the emotional intelligence, we compared between initially
proposed model and revised model by Mayer and Salovey. Concerning validity issue, we examined contents,
discriminant, convergent, and predicted validity from various research based on emotional intelligence. Our
analysis suggested that it is needed to examine the contents and manipulations of the emotional
intelligence measuring instrument. The suggestions in thhis study would be helpful for developing more
valid and useful educational programs based on emotional intelligence
