in Korea. The Qualitative case study inquiry method of understanding what mothers identify the talented
characteristics of her children, and what difficulties they go through in raising gifted young children.
The key informant is the mother who has 19-year-old gifted young children in Hankook University in
Daejeon. I interviewed from June 2012 to Dec 2015.
The results of this study were as follows. First, Youngmin’s parents are devoted to nurturing
Youngmin’s talent with hope. However, sometimes Youngmin’s parents chose career guidance, they
conflicted with the education system. Parents experienced psychological conflict due to lack of
understanding about highly gifted children. So Youngmin's parents grow up as parents who claim
education rights. Through this process, Youngmin's Parents have discovered a distorted perception about
the education of highly gifted children, and they become aware of the responsibility. This study is
expected to be useful as a basic data of gifted education environment that can reflect the concept of
gifted child based on understanding of parental experience of a person who completed doctoral course in
teenager.
