본 연구에서는 그간 남북한 주민 간의 정신적, 문화적 이질성의 심화로 인한 이질성을 극복하고 공존과 상생을 위한 향후 통일교육의 방안으로 세계시민교육 을 주목하였다. 현재와 같은 세계화 사회에서 생활하기 위해서는 남북한 주민들 뿐 아니라 세계인과의 소통, 교류, 상생을 위해서도 꼭 필요한 교육이다. 이에 본 연구에서는 세계시민교육의 관점에서 북한 교육의 실상을 분석해 보았다. 북 한 교육의 실상을 들여다보기 위해서 사회과 교육 영역에 해당하는 정치사상 교 과목들, 사회주의 도덕, 지리, 역사 교과목을 대상으로 초, 중학교 급에서 배우 는 내용들을 살펴 보았다. 세계시민교육 관점에서 분석 결과를 보면, 북한 교육 의 목표와 성격은 기본적으로 북한 사회주의 이념과 정치사상 주입에 있었다. 모든 사회교과 영역의 교육은 사회주의 국가의 우월성, 사회주의 이념, 김일성 일가에의 충성심 고취, 사회주의 국가 유지 발전에의 적극적 참여에 목표를 두 고 있었다. 그리하여 세계시민교육에서의 인류의 보편적 가치 교육, 문화다양성 인식과 존중 교육, 글로벌 이슈에의 관심과 인식 교육, 세계화 및 글로벌 시각 관련 교육 등 모든 영역에서 왜곡, 결핍, 무관심 현상이 나타났다. 세계화된 민 주주의 사회를 기반으로 이뤄진다고 가정할 때, 향후 통일교육은 세계시민교육 과 연계한 남북한 정규교육으로 이뤄져야 할 자명한 필요성을 지닌다.
This study has focused on global citizenship education as a means of education for coexistence and coexistence overcoming the heterogeneity caused by deepening of mental and cultural heterogeneity between the residents of North and South Korea. In order to live in a global society, it is an indispensable education not only for the people of North people but also South Korean people for communication, exchange, and coexistence with the world. In this study, I analyzed the reality of North Korean education through the perspective of global citizen education. In order to look into the reality of North Korean education, I looked at the contents of political ideology subjects, socialism moral subject, geography, and history in the social studies education area. The results of the analysis show that the purpose and character of North Korean education was basically in the infusion of North Korean socialism ideology and political thought. Education of all subjects of social studies aimed at the supremacy of the socialist state, the socialist ideology, the loyalty to the Kim Il Sung family, and the active participation in the maintenance and development of the socialist state. Thus, universal value education of humanity, cultural diversity awareness and respect education, global issue education and globalization education in the global citizenship education are distorted, deficient, and indifferent. Assuming that it is based on a globalized democratic society, unification education in the future has a clear need to be made by regular education of the two Koreas in connection with global citizen education.
