The historical trauma caused by the Korean War is a sick trail that can not be
erased by Koreans. However, the assistance and support from the international
community such as the United Nations, which Korea received in the war caused
by North Korea, has become a unique Korean empirical asset that no nation in
the world has ever had. In other words, with the help of 63 nations including the
21 nations that participated in the Korean War during this War and 42 countries
that provided various support, it was possible to preserve the value of liberal
democracy and to keep the nation alive. At that time, the number of UN veterans
reached about 1.94 million. These veterans and soldiers are an important
outgrowth of Veterans Policy implementation through Korea' s diplomatic relations.
This is an asset of Korea's important diplomatic relations.
The article will examine the situation and the supporting situation of UN
combatant nations in the Korean War. Next, it will examine how the relations
with these countries are developing in terms of veteran diplomacy which has the
characteristics of public diplomacy using so-called soft power assets. Then, I will
explore the implications of the veterans diplomacy and the extensibility of external
factors related to it and investigate the tasks and prospects of the future.
