Objectives : The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of spaced-retrieval training combined with
errorless learning on dementia patients. For this purpose, published articles were analysed using
the P.I.C.O. principle.
Methods : We systematically examined papers from January, 2008 to December, 2014 published papers
through the domestic and foreign journals which were RISS & Pubmed for three months.
mainly used key words were dementia, mild cognitive impairment, memory training, errorless
learning and spaced-retrieval training.
Results : Published articles which were included in this study adapted spaced-retrieval training technique
such as word, face-name association, prospective memory task and combined with errorless
learning. The results show that this intervention is effective on the cognitive function and activity
of daily living of people with dementia.
Conclusion : This study is expected to help selecting memory training techniques, intervention period, assessment
tools according to the individual’s degree of cognitive impairment and characteristics.
In future domestic research, variety assessment tools need to be used and more qualitative
level experiment will be carried out.
