본 연구는 ‘일’의 개념에 관한 여러 견해를 검토한 후에 그것을 기초로 하여 일의 교육적 의 의를 탐색하는 데 그 목적이 있다. 일은 외부적으로 세계를 인간의 필요와 목적에 맞게 변형시키는 외재적 측면 이외에, 내부적으로 자기 자신을 형성하는 내재적 측면을 가진다. 그럼에도 불구하고 이제까지 일의 내재적 측면이 관심을 받지 못한 이유는 그것이 묵시적 차원에 속하기 때문이다. 또 한 여가의 개념에 비추어 볼 때, 일에는 내면에서 순간적으로 갑자기 일어나는 관조나 통찰, 또는 각성이 있어야 한다. 교육적으로 볼 때, 일은 단순히 외적 결과나 유용성을 달성하기 위한 수단에 머물지 않고 학습자의 자아실현, 궁극적으로는 ‘전인’(whole man)에 이바지해야 한다. 물론, 일이 전인교육이라는 목적에 충실하려면 거기에는 일의 여가적 측면이 반드시 포함되어 있어야 한다. 이 때 비로소 학습자는 일을 일답게 제대로 배울 수 있게 된다.
This study aims to explore the educational meaning of ‘work’, based on reviewing the views on the concept of work. There are inherent aspects which internally form the self, in addition to the external aspects of work which transform the world to fit the needs and goals of the humans externally. Nevertheless, up to now, inherent aspects of work are not interested in because it belongs to the tacit dimension. Also, in the light of the concept of leisure, work must have a contemplation or awakening that suddenly occurs instantaneously from inside. From an educational point of view, work should not just be a means to achieve external outcomes or usability. Work must contribute to the learner's self-realization, and ultimately to the ‘whole man’. Of course, to be true to the purpose of the whole man education, it must include the leisure side of work. At this time, the learner can the work as it is properly.
