The purposes of this study are to explore the effects of a physical education and sport-leisure activity program for preventing school violence in elementary school and to develop the programs in consideration of the applicability to schools. This study revised and modified a physical education and sport-leisure activity program introduced in 2012 through adapting five six-grade classes in 2013. For this study, systematic participant observations and in-depth interview were conducted, focused on the changes of four students suffering from school violence through the physical education and sport-leisure activity program. This study argue that there is a urgent need of students’ change in their perception of physical activity before operating the physical education and sport-leisure program. Regarding to the effects of the program, students had a chance to develop a greater understanding of themselves and others in terms of playing sports together. In addition, the program played an important role in promoting a positive learning environment which, in turn, encouraged students to respect one another, cooperate with one another, and show sportsmanship in the classroom setting. For the further development of ‘school violent preventing’ programs, we suggest detailed program according to types of school violent with consideration of national curriculum for physical education in an elementary school.
