이 연구는 초등학교 스포츠클럽 티볼 참여학생들의 포지션 결정에 따른 포지션 만족도, 선호포지션 그리고 포지션 결정은 어떻게 결정되는지를 밝힘으로써 학교스포츠클럽 티볼 지도자들에게 참여학생들의 포지션 결정에 따른 기초 자료를 제공하는데 목적이 있다. 이를 위해 광주광역시, 전라북도에 소재한 초등학교 스포츠클럽 티볼참여학생 총 300명(광주:150명, 전북:150명)을 임의 추출 방법을 통해 연구대상을 선정하였다. 자료 수집은 5단계평정척도(Likert scale)양적 질문지를 통해 포지션결정에 따른 선호도와 결정과정에 대한 내용을 설문조사하였다.그 결과 다음과 같은 결론을 얻었다. 첫째, 티볼 참여학생들은 포지션 결정에 담당교사의 의견에 가장 많은 영향을 받고 있는 것으로 나타났고, 그 다음 순으로는 본인희망, 기타(친구권유), 학부모 의견 순으로 났다. 둘째, 참여학생들이 가장 선호하는 포지션은 제 1, 2유격수, 각 루수, 중견수, 외야수 순으로 나타났다. 셋째, 현재 맡고 있는 포지션에 대한 만족도는 43.2%만이 현재 포지션에 만족하다고 응답하였다. 이러한 결과로 볼때 초등학교 스포츠클럽 담당교사들은 단순히 운동수행능력으로만 포지션을 결정하기보다 참여학생들의 의사결정 과정 등의 다양한 방법을 적용하여 포지션 결정을 해 주어야 할 것이다.
