This paper proposes the design principles that can help instructional designers develop group
metacognition tool in computer-supported collaborative learning environment. By the literature review, the
design principles was made. Using the design research method, this study analyzed collaborative knowledge
building models such as cognitive process theory of writing model, knowledge transforming model, paired
writing model, inquired those design principles for supporting the group metacognition in
computer-supported collaborative learning environment, and concluded as follows: planning cues in which
plans-to-do and plans-to-say.
