In this paper, I investigate mechanisms which has rapidly increased the unit number of marriage
migration into East Asian countries by means of analysis on shaping of Vietnamese international marriage
migration in the perspective of social reproduction and suggest policy alternatives to solve the fundamental
problems of Vietnamese Female Migrants having suffered in the destination countries. According to the
findings the fundamental Mechanisms are social reproduction crisis from rural economy deterioration in
Vietnam as a sending country and from care labor in East Asian countries as the receiving countries, and a
congruency between demand and supply on marriage migrant women, adding to commercial international
marriage brokers are increasing factors. Policy suggestion is as follows; first, Vietnam government’s
marriage migration policy needs to transform from quantitative into qualitative expansion. Second, Vietnam
government should make efforts to fully inform them the success and failure stories, teach the counterpart
country’s culture and language, and lead to their safe marriage life. Third, a paradigm shift needs to urge
between Vietnam on patriarchal customs and East Asia countries on gendered Confucian values.
