본 연구는 남자 간호대학생의 자아존중감, 전공만족도 및 대학생활적응 간의 변수를 확인하여 자 아존중감과 대학생활적응의 관계에서 전공만족도의 매개효과를 파악하는데 목적이 있다. 자료수집은 2014년 11월 17일부터 12월 1일까지 대구, 경북에 소재한 3개 대학의 남자 간호대학생 157명을 대상 으로 하였다. 연구결과는 첫째, 자아존중감, 대학생활적응, 전공만족도 간에는 모두 정적인 상관관계 가 있는 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 전공만족도는 자아존중감과 대학생활적응 간의 관계에서 부분매개 효과가 확인되었다. 자아존중감이 대학생활 적응에 직접효과를 나타내지만 전공만족도를 매개하는 경 우 대학생활에 더 잘 적응하고 학과수업, 교우관계, 동아리활동 등 적극적인 학교 생활을 하였으며 전반적인 만족도가 높았다. 따라서, 남자 간호대학생의 원활하고 긍정적인 대학생활적응을 돕고 졸업 후에도 간호학 분야에서 자리매김할 수 있도록 남자 간호대학생의 특성에 맞는 중재방안을 연구하고 실행하는 노력이 필요하다.
This study aimed to examine the mediating effect of major satisfaction on the relationship between self-esteem and college adaptation in male nursing students. Data were collected from 157 male nursing students at 3 universities located in North Gyeongsang Province and Daegu, from November 17 to December 1, 2014. Results indicated that the relationships among self-esteem, college adaptation, and major satisfaction were statistically significant. Additionally, major satisfaction partially mediated the relationship between self-esteem and college adaptation. Although self-esteem had a direct effect on college adaptation, students showed better college adaptation when major satisfaction was considered a mediating factor. Therefore, interventions that promote male nursing students’ self-esteem and major satisfaction should be developed and implemented so that it can be positioned in the nursing field of after supporting graduating adapt to college life nursing college it is necessary.
