The purpose of this study was to identify the pre-service teachers' perceptions and to analyze the
characteristics of pre-service early childhood teachers. As a result of the research, the pre - service
teachers' perceptions of leadership appeared in four different types. The type 1 is cooperative
relationship-oriented leadership that acknowledges the viewpoint of peers and members and recognizes
cooperation as important, and type 2 is problem-solving leadership that actively addresses conflict and
problem situations. Type 3 is a professional role - oriented leadership that reflects on educational
activities and thinks that growth as a teacher is important, and type 4 is a systematic manager -
oriented leadership that emphasizes the efficient handling of work within an institution. These results
show that pre-service early childhood teachers have different perceptions of leadership based on their
experiences. Therefore, it is necessary to provide students with experience to recognize and understand
various characteristics of teacher leadership in early childhood education institutions in the process of
training pre - service teachers.
