This study aims to find out how the formative activities have on the development of children’s drawing
representation ability. This study selected 38 children who are 5 years old in full in D Kindergarten
located in Jeonju City, Jeollabuk-do as the subjects. In pre-test and post-test, drawing representation ability
were examined and the tests were conducted with formative activity programs on every Wednesday for 25
weeks. For the statistical analysis for data processing, t-test was conducted with SPSS/WIN program in
order to compare the effects of formative activity programs with the significance level at 5%. Paired t-test
was conducted between pre-test and post-test.
The core findings in the research are as follows. Art education through formative activities has effects
on the sub-factors of the development of drawing representation ability of children. It was proved that art
education through formative activity had important effect on the development of children’s drawing
representation ability. Since art education through formative activities is effective education program to
promote the development of children’s drawing representation ability, it is concluded that various art
education programs should be expanded and implemented in order to support for the development of
children’s drawing representation ability in children’s educational institutions.
