This research attemps to clarify the effects of integrated arts therapy on
efficacy and interpersonal competency of mothers of children with Attention
Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder(ADHD). The once-weekly examination involved
mothers wanting counseling at an art therapy center in G city and the Wee
Center of 00 school. Each of 12 sessions was 90 minutes. As a qualitative
method, matching sample t-test was done using the SPSS statistical program
to look for changes in efficacy and interpersonal competency of mothers. As
a quantitative method, all the activities during respective sessions were
observed, recorded and analyzed. Integrated arts therapy significantly
improved efficacy aspects, such as self-efficacy, family efficacy, and social
efficacy of the mothers of ADHD children, and also showed changes in
improvement of interpersonal competency, such as feeling of satisfaction,
empathetic understanding, communication, and openness. The findings cnnnot
be generalized due to small number of research objects. However, the results
indicate that an integrated arts therapy program can be helpful for the social
and emotional stability of parents who can often experience intergenerational
ambivalence while raising ADHD children.
