Language is a medium connecting spiritual "me" and social "me." In case of aphasic, the deficiency of linguistic ability causes social role absence and psychological misery as well as difficulties in communication. However, the acknowledgement for aphasiac has been inferior comparing to other speech disability areas. This study points out current study on aphasiac is too concentrated in the diagnosis and classification system with the view of medical science, and raises the necessities of consideration in the view of psychology and sociology since the study on aphasiac should be accompanied by multi-areas studies. Recently, as the discussion on the speech rehabilitation effect for aphasic is contin~ed in intemational academic society, diverse mediation methods are actively reviewed and discussed. This study tries to find the limitation of speech rehabilitation by existing linguistic approach and stresses 011 the approach in the cognitive view. 10 do 50, it reviewed theses published in the nation and overseas regarding the deficiency of cognitive ability, and explains the reason why the cognitive approach is needeà, and finds the p..ecessities through the application examples, although they are fragmentary.
