It is important for the elderly to enjoy quality of life. An electrically powered wheelchair with steering wheel is one way in which the elderly may move independently. The aim of this study is to illustrate how they may easily get about by using electrically-powered wheelchairs with steering wheels. This survey was conducted on 5 male and 17 female elder people who use electrically-powered wheelchair‘s with steering wheels. Interviewers visited their houses or the shops supplying wheelchairs and interviewed them. This study yielded the following results 1. More than 60% of them answered that they had learned to go out alone even for a long distance or that they were able to go out more frequently thanks to electrically-powered wheelchairs with steering wheels. 2. More than 50% have used their electrically-powered wheelchairs with steering wheels when going shopping or to the hospital. 3. Electrically-powered wheelchairs with steering wheels enable people who have difficulty in walking to go out by themselves. Therefore, almost all of them feel electrically-powered wheelchairs with steering wheels to be very useful.
