In order to strive for reducing the accidents of electrically powered scooters
(hereinafter “Electric Scooters"), it is necessary to conduct the analysis of accidents
that have not been made public so far. With that as a backdrop, the objective of
this research is to shed light on incidents and accidents experienced by the users
of Electric Scooters.
Researchers conducted individual interviews and collected the data. 22 users of
Electric Scooters were covered under the survey, out of which 5 were males and
17 were females.
Among the users of Electric Scooters, only few users expressed concerns about
operating Electric Scooters. However, among the users who have met with
accidents, some of the users made mistakes in operating the scooter and making
judgments. Moreover, even if the user himself took necessary measures to ensure
safety, insufficient awareness in common citizens about Electric Scooters and
inadequate road environment led to accidents or road incidents.
