1n order for the education to be effective, we must compose the lesson model based on
the result of the effect verification for the conducted class. 80 we composed a lesson
plan about a topic that is familiar to the children , the barrier free transport, and
taught the lesson for 5th graders. 8ince the subjects are in 5th grade, we considered
that many of the students would have the knowledge of the name, Braille Blocks, and
how they are used. 80 the lesson dealt with the incorrect installation of the Braille
Blocks, and obstacles (such as bicycles) on top of the Braille Bl ocks. The aim of this
lesson is to make the children feel that it is important to install the Braille Blocks, and
we need to be careful not to put obstacles such as bicycles on top of the blocks in order
for the visually impaired people to use the blocks smoothly.
The lesson consisted of an introduction and 4 parts of developments . During the
introduction, we taught children that when the visually impaired people walk, they
use the White cane and guide dogs for the blind, or with someone’s guidance. In
Development 1, we showed the picture of a bicycle on top of the Braille Blocks and
conveyed that the vlsuallY impaired people are troubled. In Development 2, we
showed 4 pictures of the Braille Blocks that are set up incorrectly, and asked the
children what were wrong. After the children answered, we showed the picture with
the correct setup and gave explanations. In Development 3, we demonstrated how to
approach the visually impaired people, and how to guide them. 1n Development 4, we
answered questions from the children.
