Doctoral clissertations using life history research methods are on the increase recently, and by majoring fields, it is mainly dealt in physical education, pedagogy, women’s stuclies, socia1 welfare stuclies. The number of participants is various from 1 to 20 persons, and the characteristics of research participants was that they were the poors, women, clisabled, elderly who were socia1ly isolated or clistorted. life history research shows two genealogies that presents typology and typical example. Research on life history will be a "window" which will make the research participants, who have been subjects of description, into the center of understanding and eventua1ly broaden our awareness.
