Since recently a variety of contents on disability have been introduced through many media, ordinary people become familiar to the concept of disability-related terms. This research was conducted to examine how adolescents who establish self-value and enter the adulthood perceived disability. In order to achieve this purpose, a total of 276 middle school students (158 boys, 118 girls) were asked to freely describe their ideas struck when hearing or seeing the letter of ' disability'. Described words were divided into disability-related terms area, general terms area, and disability-related slang words area for analysis. Based on the results of analysis, the most frequently described word was ’wheelchair’ in the disability- related terms area by both boys and girls, followed by ’visual disability’ and ’hearing disability'. In the general terms area, both boys and girls described ’discomfort’ the most, which is a neutral stereotype. While girls described a positive stereotype more than boys, boys described a negative stereotype more than girls. In the disability-related slang words area, boys described more various and more words than girls. With the advance of inclusive education to middle and high schools in special education, it is expected that the perception of disability by adolescents will influence inclusive education.
