The purpose of thjs study was to compare the educational systems of 10 mfferent countries inclumng Germany. The German school system is characterized by early separation and the segmentation of the secondary course. Experts pointed out the German educational system as the biggest problem with PISA-Studien that produced low academic achievement. In the introduction, the results of PISA -Studien were briefly described, and the current academic performance of Germans was explained. In the body, five prurs of countries were selected, and the school systems of two countries in each prur were compared: Germany-Austria, Sweden-Finland, Korea-]apan, Russia-Czech, and Italy-Portugal. And the countries that were more closely linked to each other historically and culturally were found to be more simjlar in this regard, but each country had a unique educational system. In the conclusion, a new educational system that has lately been introduced in Berlin, Germany, to reform the existing school system was presented as a model. This system incorporates the segmented secondary course (Haupt-, Real-, Gesamtschule) into integrierte sekundarschule. The key point of the educational system reform is to ensure ’the equity of educational opporturuties.'
