This study was done to verify effects of debriefing studies using discussion-oriented peer feedback on
nursing students’ self-directed learning, critical thinking disposition, confidence in core basic nursing skills,
and problem-solving ability. Though a convenience sampling method 60 nursing students were recruited
between from November 8 and 23, 2016. Data were analyzed using χ²-test and independent t-test. Thirty
students were assigned to the experimental group and 30 to the control group. self-directed learning
(p<.01), critical thinking disposition (p<.05), problem-solving ability (p<.05), and confidence in Foley
catheterization skills (p<.05) increased significantly after debriefing studies using discussion-oriented peer
feedback. The results of this study suggest that the core basic nursing skills, which is the most basic skill
of nurses, could be improved so that the health problems of the subjects can be actively solved and
furthermore, it can be used to enhance the practical capacity of new nurses.
