The purpose of this paper is to propose novel alternatives for consulting supervision of Korea. This
paper examines the preceding researches of USA and Australia which adopt the methods for lesson
improvement of Lesson Study applied in Japan. The result analysis is compared with the case analysis on
consulting supervision of Korea. This paper examines aims, methods of class operation, topics for
discussion, and improvement degrees of teachers of Lesson Study, and analyzes the consulting supervision
system of Korea focusing on the basic plan of consulting supervision. It is encouraged for each unit school to spontaneously have the consulting supervision twice a year in Korea. It is conducted perfunctorily
because the participation subjects are not teachers who want to spontaneously get consulting supervision,
but newly appointed teachers or inexperienced teachers. In contrast, Lesson Study contains the virtuous
circle where voluntary teachers actively participate in the process such as planning, observing, discussing,
and sharing process. This paper insists that the consulting supervision be conducted based on each unit
school for the spontaneous participation of teachers, and that the consulting supervision system have
research meetings on class work for entire teachers and the helpful constitution which substantially helps
teachers in classes.
