Purpose: The purpose of this study is to demonstrate the mediation of communication competence in the
relationship among self-leadership, profession, and psychological well-being. The data collection period was collected from April 20 to May 15, 2017, and it is conducted among 227 nursing college students in 4th
with grade clinical practice for over 6 months. Method: The data were analyzed using SPSSWIN/PC(version
21.0) and AMOS 20.0. The general characteristics were frequency and percentage calculations, while the
hypothetical model for main effects was analyzed using AMOS 20.0, Pearson's correlation coefficient, a
covariance matrix and Sabel test was used. Results: Self-leadership affects communication competence
positively(path coefficient,.674(t-value=7.423, .p<.001). Self-leadership had a positive effect on psychological
well-being(path coefficient .280,t-value=2.912,p<.01). Communication competence positively affected with
profession(path coefficient .257, t-value=2.145, p<.05). Communication competence positively affected
psychological well-being(path coefficient .525, t-test=5.063, p<.001). However, self-leadership did not affect
positive profession (path coefficient, .020 ,t-value=0.168, p>.05), The mediating effect is that the
communication competence perfect mediate the lationship between self-leadership and
profession(Z=2.056,p=0.040), communication competence partially mediate effect the lationship between
self-leadership and psychological well-being(Z=4.166, p=.000). Conclusion: Therefore, it is necessary to
develop their communication competence to improve their self-leadership capabilities of nursing college
students and to improve the positive profession and psychological well-being.
