The aim of this study was to investigate the utilization of long-term care insurance. 25,814 adults who
aged 18 and over were analyzed, based upon the data of Korea health panel. Characteristics of long-term
care insurance include long-term care insurance application, approval rating, judgement rating care facility
in-home service utilization, occurrence of user fee and care expense-beneficiary's payment rate.
Characteristics according to rating include gender, age, care facility, in-home service utilization, in-home
service benefit, caregiver, care giving burden, disability and Care expense-beneficiary's payment rate. Long-term care insurance applicants were increasing year by year. The home was the most care facility and
77.3% of subject who response 'home' received in-home service. Home-visit care was the highest among
in-home service benefits and a primary caregiver was spouse and daughter-in-law among family. Regard to
care expense-beneficiary's payment rate(public), 0won was the highest and then it was
100,000-299,999won. Long-term care insurance becomes a great social insurance. In order to achieve
development of long-term care insurance, the beneficiaries should be expanded and a variety of home care
services should be developed to improve the elderly life.
