Nursing behavior for prevention of complications of peripheral intravenous injection is important in the
clinical field. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the perception and performance of peripheral
intravenous injection. This study was done to investigate nurse’s perceived importance and performance of
intravenous fluid therapy. Data collected from 151 nurses working in 2 general hospitals at B city. Data
analyzed by SPSS WIN 20.0 on t-test, one way ANOVA, Pearson’s correlation analysis and stepwise
multiple regression. As results, the significant major predictors was perceived importance of intravenous
fluid therapy’s complication prevention(β=.495, p<.001). The explained variances for performance of
intravenous fluid therapy’s complication prevention was 25.5% in nurses. Therefore to development of a
nursing education programs for performance of intravenous fluid therapy’s complication prevention. It suggests a study to investigate the education needs for nurse’s perceived importance and performance of
intravenous fluid therapy.
