This study aims to provide basic data for practice and policy
solutions to prevent school dropout adolescents by examining the
influence of self-esteem, parental behavior, community resource and
readiness for independent living of school dropout adolescents. In
order to carry out this study, a questionnaire survey of school
dropout adolescents was conducted in Cheonan, Daejeon, Seoul, as
well as few cities in Gyeonggi province. Study sample included 363
school dropout adolescents. Using SPSS 23.0 program, data analysis
was conducted according to frequency, correlation, hierarchical
regression. The results of the study were as follows: Firstly,
self-esteem had influence on readiness for independent living of
school dropout adolescents. Secondly, parental affection was
influential to self-management skills of male school dropout
adolescents. In addition, over-expectation of parents was influential
to resource management skills of female school dropout adolescents.
However, parental behavior had no effect on resource management
skills of male school dropout adolescents. Thirdly, community
resource was influential to self-management skills and resource
management skills of male school dropout adolescents. However, It
had no effect on resource management skills of female school
dropout adolescents, so there were differences depending on
different gender. Based on these results, this study included
suggestions for policy and practice for school dropout adolescents.
