The purpose of this study was to examine the mediating effects of stress coping style between character
strengths and school adaptation in school maladjusted adolescents. A survey was conducted using scales of
character strengths, school adaptation, stress coping style on 232 of adolescents with school maladjusted in
Busan, Ulsan, and Kyung-nam province. Using SPSS 20.0 program, correlation analysis, hierarchical multiple
regression analysis, and Sobel test were employed to investigate the hypotheses. The results of this study were as
follows: First, positive relationships were found between character strengths and school adaptation, between
character strengths. Second, stress coping style showed a partial mediation effect on the relationship between
character strengths and school adaptation. Third, stress coping style showed a partial mediation effect on the
relationship between character strengths and school adaptation. Findings and implications of this study are
discussed.
