The purpose of this study is to examine the effect of perceiving a calling on academic achievement, and to
verify the mediating effects of meanings in life, academic dedication and career preparation behaviors in the
process of perceiving a calling. The hypotheses are as follows: First, perceiving a calling will exert meaningful
influences on academic achievement. Second, meanings of life and academic dedication will mediate between
perceiving a calling and academic achievement. Third, meanings of life and career preparation behaviors will
mediate between perceiving a calling and academic achievement. For this study, the data collected from October,
2015 to June, 2016, from a total of 550 undergraduates in Seoul. The data were examined using structural
equation model(SEM). As a result, the competition model(career preparation behaviors will mediate between
meaning of life and study absorption) was selected. Based on the result, implications for career counseling were
discussed.
