meaning of life in female professional athletes and relevant factors, and to
examine the logical relevance between them to develop a theoretical model.
To achieve our goals, we apply the grounded theory approach. The main
results are as follows. First, the meaning of life in female professional
athletes is formed by the sequential influence of causal conditions and
situational contexts. Second, awareness of the importance of happiness which
was the central phenomenon was identified as psychological comfort and
external help which could relieve or change the intensity. Third, among
upper categories of the results, the empowerment has been shown to give
positive effects as it was refluxed as the willingness of action/ interaction
strategies. In addition, the narcissism of the results was partially refluxed to
the central phenomenon and situational context. The results obtained in this
study will help to broaden understanding of the formation process of the
meaning of life in female professional athletes and to advance the research
through an organic combination of related further studies.
