본 연구의 목적은 유아 사회 교육 중에서 사회과학분야와 관련된 유아용 그림책을 분석하여 그 경향을 살펴보고자 하였다. 연구대상은 유아용 그림책 432권으로 그림책의 내용을 분석하였다. 전체 대상 도서 중 국내작가의 작품은 179권(41.4%), 국외 작가의 작품은 253권(58.6%)으로 국외 작가의 작품이 더 많은 것으로 타나났다. 사회과학분야의 범주로 분석한 결과 전체 도서 432권 중 ‘민주 시민 교육’과 관련된 내용이 가장 많이 나타났으며(38.4%), ‘다문화(21.3%)’, ‘환경(13.0%)’, ‘지리(13.0%)’, ‘역사(6.7%)’,‘시사(4.4%), ‘경제(3.2)’의 순으로 나타났다. 사회과학분야에서 지리, 역사, 시사, 경제 관련된 부분이 민주시민교육이나 다문화, 환경에 비해 부족한 것으로 나타났다.
The purpose of this study is to analysis children\'s books related social science and to review the tendency of them. The subjects are the contents of 432 children\'s picture books related children\'s social science. Among those books, the domestic picture books are 179(41.4%), and foreign picture books are 253(58.6%). The results indicated that content related with ‘democratic citizen education’ has highest proportion(38.4%) of all books, and the rest are content related with multi-culture(21.3%)’, ‘environment(13.0%)’, ‘geography(13.0%)’, ‘history(6.7%)’, ‘current events(4.4%), and ‘economy(3.2%)’ in order of proportion. In social science, this study revealed that the contents related with geography, history, events, economy were more lack than the contents related with democratic citizen and multi-culture.
